GATTON GRUNT DUATHLON
We had a great morning at the first race of the new Qld Club Champs series at Gatton last Sunday morning. Despite the travel time out there we had over 40 athletes competing with many using the race as a hit out for Noosa, Worlds and Yepoon.
For everyone it was also the first race of the season and a chance to test their training. Congratulation to those who placed or won their age group to show their training is going well.
The final points towards the club champs series should be available on the TQ website in the coming days. The next race in the series is the Moreton Bay Triathlon on September 23.
The bbq afterwards thanks to the social committee was a hit and congratulations to Tim Osborne for winning the $900 wakeboard in our after race raffle. There are some photos up on the Tri Allaince Qld facebook page of the event.
CONGRATULATIONS IT’S A BOY
A big congratulations to life member Belinda Daniels and her husband Brett on the birth of their first child, Hugh earlier this week. Mother and son are doing well and we look forward to seeing them both at a race soon cheering Brett on.
NOOSA/WORLDS CAMP
We have 35 athletes all set to go for next weekend’s Noosa/Worlds Training camp. Starting Friday morning they’ll be doing 3 days of training to help their preparation for the upcoming season but specifically for Worlds in Auckland and Noosa.
If there is anyone else that would like to come along email us at qld@dev.tri-alliance.com.au. We have all beds full with our current booking but can look at booking another apartment if there is enough interest. View full details.
We’ll be posting photos up on the Tri Alliance Qld facebook page during the camp.

TRAINING
This weekend is another trail run at Mt. Cootha from 6:15am starting at the Summit Café. As per other trail runs there will be 2 groups completing a 1hr 45 to 2hr loop through the trails.
On Sunday the long course athletes are completing 2 loops of the Nebo Glorius ride starting from the Gap Coffee Club at 5.30am. As you can see we’re still working on our strength before transitioning into some specific interval work on the flat.
YEPOON 70.3
Good luck to Tim Osborne, Hannah Hogan, Yas Grigaluinas, Simon Corrie and Paul Thistleton who are competing at Yepoon this weekend.
Tim, Yas, Simon and Paul all raced at Gatton on Sunday while Hannah was second female overall at the Mackay Olympic Distance Triathlon to show she is ready for her first half IM.
