IM CAMP
Our IM camp on the Sunshine Coast was a great success. The athletes battled wind, rain, hills, jellyfish, fatigue and heavy legs but despite that they all completed the weekend with a smile on their face and a great attitude.
With guest speakers in dietician Sally Garrad and Michael Baker from Custom Bike Fit and an information session on the Busso course they left the weekend better prepared for the race in 10 weeks. After a few easy days this week they’ll be back into it again this weekend.
Thanks to our sponsors from Giant Bikes, Shotz, Ascend and Rocket Science for the great camp packs everyone received.
Stay tuned for a camp report from our new ambassador Claire Schneider.
GET WELL SOON
Best wishes to Petra Zink who is recovering from a terrible dog attack while running. Petra had to undergo surgery to her legs when two dogs jumped a fence and attacked her while she was out running.
On behalf of everyone at Tri Alliance we would like to wish Petra a speedy recovery and hope to see her back at training again soon.
TRAINING
This weekend is our first transition session for the season at Suttons Beach, Redcliffe. With Raby Bay, Worlds and Noosa in the coming weeks it will allow everyone to fine tune their preparation with a good swim, bike and run hit out.
The Gold Coast crew are doing an open water skills session at Southport followed by the 5km Park Run from Main Beach and breakfast at Tedder Ave to finish.
The long course athletes will also be at Redcliffe on Saturday morning doing a long 4km swim followed by a 100-150km ride made up of 50km loops at Redcliffe. This is perfect practice for Busso as it allows people to spend time down in the aero position like what they have to do on the flat course of Busso IM.
QUEENSLAND TRI SERIES
As we mentioned last week Tri Alliance members receive a $5 discount on race entry for the Qld Tri Series by using your special member code. Along with that we’ll also be able to provide members with their registration packs on race day at the Tri Alliance tents.
Remember by using that code you go into a draw to have your race entry refunded so don’t delay.
FORSTER LONG COURSE
Good luck to everyone travelling to Forster this weekend to compete in the Forster Ultimate Triathlon 2/120/20. With Port Macquarie 70.3IM it is the main lead up race for Tri Alliance members competing at Busso.
MONTHLY BREAKFAST
Tomorrow morning is our next monthly breakfast. Starting tomorrow we’ll be having them from Vroom Café on James Street. Invites have been sent out on the facebook page and each month we’ll have a free breakfast to give away courtesy of Vroom Café.
After the wind trainer and swim sessions at the pool it is a great way to end the week so we look forward to seeing everyone there.
TRAINING PHOTO OF THE MONTH
Also starting this month is a new competition, the training photo of the month. We’re asking Tri Alliance members to send in what they consider to be a great training photo and the winner each month will receive a $50 voucher from Shoes Feet Gear.
Photos are due by the last Friday of each month and sent to yas@dev.tri-alliance.com.au . The judge each month will be Brett from Elite Sports Massage who will then frame the photo and place in his clinic waiting room. The winning photo will also go onto the Tri Alliance facebook page.
Thanks to Elite Sports Massage and Shoes Feet Gear for the assistance with this prize. Remember to like our sponsors facebook pages to show your support and to ensure you receive their regular posts.
