New to this.. just started doing triathlons this season and definitely got the bug. Eyeing up the Shepperton Challenge in November and wondering about coaching/a team to join if anyone has advice that would be great.
It’s not hard to get the bug! Once you’re in….you’re really in! This will be a good start for you and if you’re seriously considering a half Ironman in November, then you’d be wanting to get into a training program as soon as possible. What’s your sporting background like? And what triathlons have you completed so far?
Hi bondy, thanks for your response – I didn’t make much progress in 5 months but now joined the winter try the try. Last year I did 3 of the gatorade sprint distance tris, the corporate tri and the short distance challenge event in melbourne – Shepparton is off the cards but eyeing up 70.3 in Geelong 2018 as well as the Vic Triathlon series again – it’s an addictive sport! I’ve historically done a fair bit of casual cycling but always just played football and golf. slowly getting into running and swimming though
You did the race at Challenge Melbourne! Kudos to you….the weather was horrendous!!! Geelong is a great event too and gives you more time to prepare and get yourself in the best shape for race days. The Vic series will be a good lead it and hopefully keep your motivation and momentum up along the way. This program will be a great kick start. Especially the swimming. I find that one the hardest to do on my own, so a group session always helps. Hopefully you can get along to a few sessions and I’ll meet you at one of them! In the meantime, feel free to ask any questions you may have 🙂
