We hope you have all had a great break over Easter. Plenty of rest for those not racing and enough Easter eggs to keep you going over winter!

The office has had some time off over the last week, so if you are waiting for a reply to an email or phone message we are back on deck this week. So apologies for any delay in communication. If your enquiry is urgent, please call us in the office from 10-3pm any day this week.

Coaches Ollie and Sarah are back on deck from Thursday so look out for lots of exciting initiatives in the next few weeks!

The start of our official winter training starts this week so we hope that you have taken our advice and had a good break over the last month. Winter is long, tough training – both mentally and physically so it’s important that you are fresh and ready to get stuck into training from this month. If you haven’t refreshed,  you have the chance of burn out during the upcoming season. And for those thinking of having an extended break, remember you will potentially be starting on the back foot if you don’t get back into some light base training now.  Plenty of advice will be given over the coming months so listen to coaches, seek advice when needed and you will set yourself up for a great season ahead.

Well done to our Tassie athlete Jonathan Cahill who completed his first Ironman at Port MacQuarie on the weekend. Jonathon had an extra challenge getting to his goal of Ironman, with the majority of his training completed on his own in and around the hills of tassie. But none the less, with his determination and following his prescribed training program, he made it to the start line (often the biggest challenge!) and had a great race. He started off well swimming a solid 1.02, riding 5.45 on a tough bike course and closing with a 4.02hr marathon. Finishing with an overall time of 10.57:05. “Had a ball – can’t wait for the next one!” Jonathon informs us after the race. Great work again, top effort! We look forward to cathing up with him at the End of Season Presentation Night to share his experience with us!
Also racing on the weekend was Alex Angelini in his first Half Ironman also in Port Mac. Alex had a great lead up to his race, preparing himself well and looked fit and raring to go. He swam a 43.10, rode 2.53 and run a 2.10 to finish in 5.52min. “What an awesome experience. Tough course but the atmosphere was amazing. Enjoyed every part!” Well done again Alex. Top effort. Now for your well deserved break!!
In Bryon Bay, we had Ryan Bourke racing his first Olympic Distance and what an impressive outing he had. Despite an unfortunate flat on the bike leg, he still clawed his way back to finish 5th overall. Amazing effort. Ryan has had a fantastic first season of triathlon. With another pre season under his belt Ryan will be one to watch. So stay tuned for Ryan’s blogs as he makes his way up the triathlon ladder!
