It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that Tri Alliance learnt of the passing of John Cornish after a tragic cycling accident on the evening of Friday 22 July and still remains in deep shock after hearing of the news.
John commenced with Tri Alliance in November 2010 as a coach and was an integral part of the Tri Alliance team. His knowledge, passion and experience for cycling and triathlon were an asset and will be sorely missed. Affectionately known as ‘JC’ by our coaches and athletes, he was and will always remain respected amongst his peers.
JC, you are one of a kind – a great friend, colleague, training partner, coach and athlete. You will be dearly missed by all those who knew you and will forever live in our hearts. We will miss you beyond any words can express.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family; our memories of JC will forever be remembered.
Out of respect, Tri Alliance will be cancelling its scheduled group ride Saturday morning (23 July) and will be gathering at Elwood Lifesaving Club at 4pm. Attending will be Sargent Helen Poke to answer any of your questions and offer support. We would appreciate if you could provide us time tonight to support Johns immediate family and friends and we will be there to support you at 4pm on Saturday.
Tri Alliance will provide further details regarding funeral arrangements in the coming days.
JC, always know you will belong and be part of the Tri Alliance family. Our hearts remain with you.
John Cornish
