Word From the Coaches
Interesting what the weather gods can throw at you sometimes. There was much interest heading into the Australian Long Course Championships at Falls Creek – not only to see who was going to come out on top, but what the weather was going to be like. SuperSprint released details on how to avoid hypothermia and all eyes were on the weather forecast. But what turned out to be a little chillier than normal conditions in Falls Creek – but pretty good in retrospect, turned into terrible conditions in Geelong with heavy rainfall the night before the race and that rain continued into the morning. Not the best racing conditions, but one thing to rememeber back to is the conditions we train in particularly over winter. When it’s raining outside, don’t think ‘should I or shouldn’t I?’ Just do it, as it could well be worse on race day!

Well done to everyone who raced over the weekend – now for another race this weekend as we go back to short course racing with Race 5 of the Gatorade and Active Feet Tri Series at our home groupnd of Elwood. Nothing like a home ground advantage!! 🙂

ATHLETE GOAL SETTING WORKSHOP

Last years Goal Setting Workshop was a huge success with around 90 athletes attending our race specific goal setting workshops in preparation for planning their goals and races for the 2012/2013 Season.
For some of you it may seem early to be thinking about next season, but before you know it this season will be over and you will be wondering what to do during the winter season and what races to focus on.
The workshops will include an overview of the training calendar for the 2012/2013 season, Tri Alliance ‘focus’ races, goal setting and we also hope to secure The Performance and Sports Psychology Clinic to be involved in ‘mental training’, so it will be a great workshop to be involved in!
We will have different timeslots available for each race distance ie Sprint, Olympic, Half IM & Full IM during a 1.5hour workshop. Full details will be provided shortly.

In the meantime, make sure you lock this date into your ‘triathlon calendar’ and CLICK HERE TO RSVP so further details can be provided. (if you are unable to attend, please provide a comment as to why you cannot make it)

*Please note we are aware it is a long weekend and it is the same weekend as Victor Harbour, but with so many races on the calendar this was the best available weekend.

SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW IRONMAN ATHLETE
Ironman Melbourne Charity Raising Drive

One of our new Tri Alliance athletes, Dax Stanley, is completing in his first Ironman event in Melbourne and in doing so is raising money for an important but mostly unknown disease supported by Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA).

His wife, Amanda, has been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis last year.  Amanda has not let the disease stop her reaching her goals and she is completing in the Active Feet Series. This provides a confidence boost for other people with the disease that they can do it too.  We would like to get behind Amanda and Dax in their drive to make a difference in combating this disease by raising money to find a cure so people like Amanda can stop suffering.

CLICK HERE to read more on Dax’s journey and details around why they are doing it and what the $$ are going towards. And  Visit their Charity Page to donate –  every dollar counts:
