IMPORTANT RIDE DETAILS FOR THIS WEEKEND
Saturday 12 May 2012
Our first long endurance ride for the year started last weekend and we had huge numbers, with nearly 50 athletes turning up for a ride along Beach Road. As with all our training to begin with, the long rides are moderatly paced to start your base conditioning. You will not be riding the paces you were during the race season yet – that will come. A moderate pace can however different for different groups of athletes. 30km/hr might be a moderate pace for one rider, and 25km/hr might be moderate for another. Based on this, this weekend we will be splitting into groups based on pace. Details outlined below:
Group 1 – Moderate pace ~28-30km/hr, ~70km
Group 2 – Moderate pace ~26-28km/hr, ~70km
Group 3 – Moderate pace ~24-26km/hr, ~50-60km
Group 4 – Moderate/easy pace 20-25km/hr, 1-1.5hour
*Note these paces are a quide only and can change depending on conditions etc.
MEET:
Groups 1,2&3 will meet at Elwood Lifesaving Club 7.20am for ride briefing, for a 7.30am roll out. Groups will roll out seperately.
Group 4 will meet at MSAC AT 8.00AM outside front main foyer for a beginner ride around Albert Park Lake. If you plan on attending this ride you MUST email sarah@dev.tri-alliance.com.au. to let us know. We are trialling this beginner ride so need to know numbers.
We ask for you to place yourself in one of these four groups and know where you are starting from and what time to meet. It does not mean you will stay in this group all year, it just ensures that riders of similar ability (and current fitness) are riding together to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable ride.
And as always – our group rides will finish with a nice hot coffee (or hot chocolate) so make sure you bring some cash and warm clothes for post ride. 🙂
Any questions please let us know. Details about future group rides will be out next week.
