NEW WEBSITE/SPONSORSHIP
Our new website for Tri Alliance Queensland is obviously now live at www.qld.dev.tri-alliance.com.au . Anyone that goes to the BTS or GCTS websites will be re-directed to the Qld Tri Alliance website automatically.
We are still in the process of streamlining the website and updating content that is relevant. Please be patient with us as we do this to ensure there are no errors or issues into the future.
The facebook page has also changed in line with the website. Things like photos of our members in the new Tri Alliance gear will be loaded onto the website in the coming months once we start competing and training in the new gear.
With our new website and rebranding it also means some new sponsors and different services for Tri Alliance members. As these new agreements are finalised we’ll announce them to everyone in the coming weeks.
TRIATHLON QUEENSLAND MEMBERSHIP
For those who have already updated their Triathlon Queensland membership under BTS or GCTS you can now change it to Tri Alliance on the Triathlon Queensland website. This is done by logging on using your e-mail and then the member number given to you as the password.
By being a member of Tri Alliance the membership with Tri Qld is only $120 compared to the normal $200 for people who are not members of a club/squad. Among other things this gives you 24hr accident insurance cover when competing or training in sanctioned races across Australia and reduced entry fees to sanctioned races.
If you just do 4 races in a season you’ll get your membership fees back through the savings on those entry fees. Additionally you can only score points in the new Qld club champs series if you are a member of a Tri Qld and a club/squad.
QUEENSLAND CLUB CHAMPS SERIES
The first race of the new Qld Club Champs series is the Gatton Grunt Duathlon on the 12th of August. There are 2 distances to choose from 10/40/5 and 5/20/2.5 with every competitor that competes for their club and assuming they are a member of TQ, will receive a point.
Bonus points are awarded for placings in the top 15 per age group with 1st place receiving 15 points and so on down to 15th place which gets 1 point. Total points over the 4 races, wins the series and the chance to be the Qld club champions for 2012/13.
The second race is the Moreton Bay Triathlon at Redcliffe in Sep 23rd. These first 2 races in the series give athletes competing at World Champs, Busso IM and Noosa great chances to test their training. There are not a lot of races to choose from prior to what are the main races for most people in Worlds, Noosa and Busso so the TQ events work perfectly.
If you haven’t yet joined Triathlon Queensland do so now if not for the club champs but just to be covered and the savings you’ll get back on race entry fees.
NOOSA AND WORLD CHAMPS CAMP
Our annual Noosa Triathlon training camp is back again from Aug 24-26th. With a large part of our squad also heading to the World Champs in Auckland in October, the Noosa camp will also serve as an opportunity to help fine tune the preparation of athletes competing at Worlds.
As always the Noosa camp gives people the opportunity to get some training in over the Noosa course but mainly a chance to get in 3 days of solid training in a great training environment. As always, all levels of athlete from beginner to advanced are catered for.
We’ll have 4 coaches at camp to ensure that training loads are appropriate for the different groups. Training camps always give your fitness a boost and take you to the next level to help on race day.
Staying at the beautiful Outrigger Resort at Noosaville the cost of the camp is $330 per person. This includes 2 nights accommodation, all training sessions, camp participant pack, post session recovery drinks and snacks, lunch and dinner on Saturday and morning tea on Sunday. Full details including the schedule are at …….
Please contact suz@dev.tri-alliance.com.au to reserve your place. We require payments by August 10th
LONG COURSE CALENDAR
Now that we are in the 20 week countdown for the team heading to Busso IM our long course program is back on line. Long course sessions are sometimes held in conjunction with main squad sessions while other sessions such as long rides are not coaches but give members a meeting place and suggested route.
The Thursday morning swim session is primarily designed for long course athletes and other sessions such as the Tuesday morning run and Friday morning wind trainer have sets within them that cater more for the long course athlete.
