SWIM TECHNIQUE COURSE
Starting on the 27th of July we’re offering a 6 week swim technique course. Under the tutelage of swim coach extrordaniare Brad Jones the course will focus on working on people’s specific technical issues in the water.
Swimming fast is a product of efficiency and this course will help you do that. Each week Brad will work with the video to give people direct feedback on what is happening in the water.
The course is already half and with numbers limited contact qld@dev.tri-alliance.com.au if you’re interested in attending. Cost is $119 for Tri Alliance members and $139 for non members.
NOOSA CAMP

WORLDS BIGGEST GARAGE SALE – SMILE FOR SMIDDY FUNDRAISER
On Saturday the 3rd of August Yas Grigaluinas has organised the monster of all garage sales to assist with our Smile for Smiddy Fundraising. It will be at the Wavell Heights Bowls Club from 6am going all day.
Yas is currently collecting items to sell on the day so if you have anything please pass on to her. Everything sold on the day will go straight to the fundraising campaign that finishes at Noosa.
The Grigaluinas garage is almost full of items that have already been donated so it should be a big day. However we still need more to further boost the money we can raise.
We’re also after volunteers to assist as there will be a bbq and various kids activities so contact yas@schoolhours.com.au if you’re available.
LIFE MEMBER SHIRTS
For all those people that were presented with life membership at the end of season party we have the shirts to distribute.
We’ll start to do this at training from this week.
TRAINING
Despite it being the middle of winter our numbers have not really dropped at all compared to during the season. Even the coaches sometimes struggle to climb out of warm bed on a cold morning but knowing that there will be a group of motivated athletes there ready to go makes it a lot easier.
So kudos to everyone for the commitment shown to continue on with training in the off season. We have said this before but it is really about finding a good routine and then training just becomes part of your life. Motivation is a limited thing but a good routine is not.
However it is not too long before the racing season starts again. Sunshine Coast 70.3 IM and the first race of the QTS series at Kawana are only 8 and 9 weeks away. From there the season cranks up again all the way to Cairns IM in June next year.
What this means is that July and August are the perfect months to get in some solid hill work on the bike and run. Build some strength now to lay a great platform the first part of the season.
RACE REPORT
Robbie Andrews won the men’s 45-49 age group at IM Cairns a few weeks ago. As part of his preparation Robbie came along to our training camp in April and was under the guidance of Tri Alliance head on line coach Steve Gage.
Here is an article that Robbie penned in the latest Sunshine Coast Multi Sport Mecca magazine <a href=”http://media2.apnonline.com.au/img/media/pdf/1_Multisport_Mecca_July_17.pdf”>http://media2.apnonline.com.au/img/media/pdf/1_Multisport_Mecca_July_17.pdf
Congratulations Robbie on a great result and we look forward to watching you race at Kona later in the year.
