GOOD LUCK  – SUNSHINE COAST 70.3 IM AND WORLD CHAMPS

Good luck to everyone racing the Sunshine Coast 70.3 IM this weekend in Mooloolaba.  No doubt it will be a great weekend of racing and an exciting new addition to the racing calendar in South East Queensland.

We are certainly spoilt in terms of races in our back yard and like the Noosa and Mooloolaba festivals this race will become a must do for triathletes around the country.

The Tri Alliance tents will be there so bring along family and friend to watch all the action.

We also would like to wish Stacey Bolton and the super Dall’s Pat and Katie for the World Championships in London also this weekend.  For Stacey and Katie it is their first World Champs experience while Pat is backing up after his efforts at Auckland last year.

ANNA MEARS SMILE FOR SMIDDY FUNDRAISING NIGHT

A big thanks to members from Tri Alliance who attended the Anna Mears night.  All proceeds went to the Smile for Smiddy Noosa fund and to have someone the calibre of Anna donate her time to speak was fantastic.

The night would not have happened without the work of Claire Schneider who along with 55 other keen cyclists is currently riding to Townsville on the annual Smiddy ride.  From the pictures and updates they are certainly doing it tough.  Strong headwinds, 8-9 hr days on the bike and 35+ tempratures it is not a ride for the faint hearted.

TRY THE TRI BEGINNER COURSES

Our next 6 week beginner courses are not too far away from starting.  The first one starts on the Gold Coast on October 7th and then in Brisbane on November 5th.  If you have family or friends interested in getting into triathlon these are a great place to start.

QLD TRI SERIES

The first race of the QTS series is next weekend at Kawana Waters.  This is a new race and venue and is close to sell out.  Remember Tri Alliance members receive a $5 discount on race entry.

If you’re not racing this weekend at the 70.3 IM then this race is a great way to kick off your season.  Go to http://www.qldtriseries.com.au/ for all the details.

TRAINING

Now that we are about kick of the season proper with this weekend and then the first QTS race our training will start to reflect that.  More race pace intervals, time trials and generally a higher intensity at training will help prepare everyone to perform on race day.

Once you add this type of training to the strength and endurance work that has been performed these last few months your body starts to get into peak shape.  If you’re aiming for a key race such as Noosa, Hervey Bay 100 or even a couple of QTS races then these sessions will really help you perform at your best.

With a higher intensity at training it is also a good idea to reduce your overall training volume.  It is also important to focus on getting into a good routine of sleep and recovering properly from each session.  As always the more consistent you are the better results you’ll get on race day.
