WORD FROM THE COACHES

Our Pre Season Training Camp in Anglesea was a massive hit with athletes putting in some big hours of training in the 3 days we spent in Anglesea.

Our new location of Anglesea was a big hit and with the glorious weather – we couldn’t have had a better weekend for our camp! Well done again to everyone at the camp, you should be proud of your efforts with  the level of determination you put into each session. And well done to those athletes who attended their first training camp with us – your response has been fantastic. A big well done goes to CATHERINE JANSEN who won herself a new pair of MIZUNO runners for her efforts over the weekend. Catherine is relatively new to Tri Alliance, this was her first camp and it wasn’t until afterwards that we found out it was her birthday also. Well deserved Catherine! 🙂

SUNSHINE COAST 70.3 Half IRONMAN!

The weather leading into the inaugural Sunshine Coast Half Ironman was looking ominous, with the winds bringing up some big surf and would make for a tough ride on the highway. But race morning, the tides turned and the weather turned it on for race day. The wind did pick up during the morning and it was always going to get warm, but none the less pretty good race conditions. Well done to our team of 4 athletes who all raced in the same age group – line honours was awarded to Andy Peters who is prepping for his first Ironman in December and showed what a consistent dayd racing can do. Well done to each of you on your great results. So bigger things to come from these young athletes!

UPCOMING RACES

Ironman Lake Tahoe
This weekend athlete Nick Sissons backs up his solid performance in Vegas 2 weeks ago to take on Ironman Lake Tahoe. This is a course with amazing scenery, but by no means is it easy. A flat lake swim gets athletes off to a good start albeit tough at altitude, but that’s when the flat finishes – the bike course heads into the hills in and around Lake Tahoe and the run finishing off in Squaw Valley – the home of the 1960 Winter Olympics.
Best of luck to Nick in the race. You can track him online:

Hawaii Ironman World ChampsSaturday 12 October
Racing: Brett Archbold, Sarah Grove, Nathan Sims, Chris Bailey (QLD) (and Tri Alliance Strength & Conditioning Coach, Kemble Edelston)
With less than 2 weeks until these athletes jet off to Hawaii, their training is almost (but not quite!) done. Ensure you offer your support to these guys when you see them around at training. Stay tuned for further updates.

Yarrawonga Multi-Sports Festival: Sunday 20 October
This race is set as the Victorian Olympic Distance Championships and doubles as a world qualifier race for those wanting to qualify for Edmonton, Canda next year. The weekend also holds a Sprint Distance Race and the National Aquathon Championships, so there is something for everyone! Last year we had a small crew head up to the event, but this year is going to be big! The perfect lead in race for Noosa and Shepparton and those looking for an early season hit out to blow the cobwebs out. We already have around 15 athletes heading up, so make sure you enter and get yourself locked in for a great weekend in country Victoria! Click here for more on the race and to enter
