NOOSA TRIATHLON 2013
Another Noosa down and many more to come. As always Noosa turned it on for the thousands of athletes that came to race and enjoy everything the festival has to offer. It truly is one of the great multi sport festivals in the World and to have it in our back yard is even better.
Noosa also represents the time that many of the Victorian and Queensland Tri Alliance members get together. It was great to see so many Tri Alliance uniforms out there mixing it up. Long may it continue.
The racing is always a highlight and the results are now on the website at http://qld.dev.tri-alliance.com.au/time-trial-results/
Additionally the 2013 race represented 12 months since we formed a partnership with the Smile for Smiddy Foundation to raise money for cancer research. It was wonderful to be able to present a cheque to them for $75,052.
This was all due to fantastic efforts of Tri Alliance members from Queensland and Victoria through their fundraising work. Every year at Noosa we will be presenting a cheque to the Smiddy Foundation. Our challenge for the next 12 months is to see if we can get over the $100,000 target.
QTS RABY BAY TRI- ALLIANCE CLUB HANDICAP CHALLENGE
We mentioned previously about the QTS event at Raby Bay on December 15th where we will be having a Tri Alliance Qld club handicap race. We will have our own wave and giving away some prizes to the winners.
When entering this race enter in the mates wave and list Tri Alliance as your club. The more we have the better to make it a fun event. With our current beginner courses finishing their course also at Raby Bay it is a perfect way to finish the year.
On the training front we’ll back off the intensity levels for a lot of people. Over the last couple of months there was a real focus on some high intensity work which is great for getting into peak shape,
That type of training can’t be done all year round so between now and Christmas the sessions will still be solid but not quite at the same level of intensity. So by dropping the intensity and working to maintain fitness rather than improve it helps to stay mentally and physically fresh for what is a long season.
For many Noosa was a key event of their season. If that is the case it also a good time to take a short break before looking at some of the other races. There are many more events including the QTS series and then the build into Mooloolaba and some of the long course events.
CHRISTMAS PARTIES
Just a reminder about the Gold Coast and Brisbane Christmas parties that are coming up. The Gold Coast squad will be heading out on a cruise on Saturday the 30th of November while the Brisbane squad are having a get together at the Merthyr Bowls Club on Saturday December 14th.
Both of these functions can be booked and paid for using the Bucqi app and also on the events section of the website.
SPONSORS DISCOUNTS
We have a great range of sponsors that support Tri Alliance members. For members to receive the discounts available it is important that you present your Triathlon Queensland member card that has Tri Alliance as your club.
That way our sponsors know you’re a member of Tri Alliance and accordingly you’ll receive the benefit of being a member. If you don’t present the card the sponsor will not be able to give you any discount.
For Gold Coast members our long time supporters at Gold Coast Physio and Sports Health are now offering a free service for every 6 referrals they receive. Along with the 10% off to all members and the race day support they offer at Gold Coast events it is a great service for Tri Alliance members.
