RUN MELBOURNE
This Sunday the streets of central Melbourne will be pounded with the Annual Run Melbourne event. We have a number of athletes racing across the various distances from the 5k to 10k and the half marathon. Plenty of work has been done in the cold and dark winter months to prepare for this race. Coach Kat's Thursday night technique sessions have been invaluable in helping our runners be far more efficient thus faster and we look forward to seeing some great results. For those not racing - our Sunday training run will head towards the course and ensure our guy get some extra loud cheers as they go past. Go luck to all those racing and special mentions to those who have been regulars at training on a Thursday and have been pushing their running - Nick, Amy, Slaine, Pete, Rachel.
THAILAND CAMP
Meanwhile Coaches Ollie and Scott are heading to Thailand for our Thanyapura training camp with a number of athletes. This camp run for the second year has a wide range of athletes and will have great focus on each athlete helping them achieve their upcoming season goals. They will use the state of the art facilities over the 10 day camp to train, recover and repeat and come home stronger though tired ready to hit the next training block hard once recovered. Sessions will continue in the absence of these coaches with cover being provided by our other coaches. If you have questions please do chat with coaches at sessions - yes Ollie and Scott will be contactable to a degree though do not expect immediate responses!
NEXT WEEK IS RECOVERY
It comes around every 3 weeks so please remember that next week there will be no Tuesday morning coached run and no coached hotties on Thursday. Use this time after a big two weeks to rest, recover and adapt.
TUESDAY WIND TRAINER
Unfortunately with Coaches away in Thailand we are unable to get the rental wind trainers to the session next Tuesday evening so it will be a BYO. We apologise for this and recommend if you have not already borrowed one check with friends and family to get one. Alternatively maybe its time to invest in one for yourself...
TRY THE TRI
You will have noticed a few new faces around the squad early this week as we have now started our Winter Try the Tri program. With plenty of interest we are running a 7 week program giving those new to the sport time to get the handle on some basics and technique prior to building for the Victorian Tri Series (formerly Gatorade). Please say hi and give them some support as we were all in that boat at some point feeling a little intimidated.
