Hello from Thailand as coaches and athletes are hard at work living and breathing Triathlon for a whole week on our training camp at Thanyapura. Half way through the week and athletes are making some real gains with plenty of time being spent on technique, form and finding those extra meters that can make all the difference come race season. We have been riding the amazing roads and taking in the scenery around Phuket with all sessions having a very specific purpose. Plenty of video analysis and encouragement is being dished out to get the best for each and every athlete. If you couldn't make it this year start planning for next year, word up your boss and get that leave locked in. The camp and facilities are world class -you will not be disappointed!
RUN MELBOURNE
What a fantastic turnout last week at run Melbourne. The coaches were chuffed to see so many guys running in the various events across the city and doing so well. By all accounts it was a personal best kind of day and credit to our athletes who have put in the hard yards over winter and were rewarded with a good day and medal. A big thank you also to Coach Kat who has worked hard with the Thursday night crew on their technique which has made some of these excellent gains possible. The social media posts and camaraderie in supporting each other I am sure made your day with some great shots and smiles all round.
Next up from a running perspective could be the Sandy Point Half Marathon Event in August or the Melbourne Marathon Festival in October. Both include varying distances so see how you pulled up, have a chat with your coach and maybe set some new time or distance goals.
RECOVERY WEEK
With this week being recovery (yes there was an ftp test and swim time-trial for some) please ensure you are dialling back your intensity and making that extra effort to adequately rest. With no running Tuesday morning and no hotties tomorrow more sleep means rested bodies. There are also no hill rides on the weekend with all rides going from Elwood at 7am. Coach Greg will set you off in the appropriate groups. Next week Thursday there will be run time trials so with run Melbourne done and dusted we expect some good solid times again.
