Word from the coaches….
(last weeks weekly transition)
For most athletes, we are all now in our final stages of our pre-race preparation phase. For beginners, this means sharpening up the skills to get through each race, learning from each . For our sprint/Olympic athletes you should be now all feeling sharp and ready to race. Those days of feeling tired from training should have been and gone as you complete shorter sharper race specific sessions. Our half and full ironman/long course athletes are now most ly near their first race of the season. With Shepparton next weekend either being an A grade race for our half ironman athletes, or a B grade race for our Ironman athletes as they prepare for either Busselton, New Zealand or Port Macquarie. Best of luck in your final days/weeks!

Tri Alliance dominates in Noosa
When Tri Alliance turns up to a race, you know you are in for a good time! And Noosa did not disappoint our 55+ athletes, family and friends that made the annual trip to participate in the Noosa Multi-Sports Festival. We may not have been the largest squad competing (although would have come very close) we were definitely the largest in size, presence and NOISE! CLICK HERE to read more

Season opening BBQ & Shepparton Pre Race Review
Join us for our season opening, post training BBQ at Elwood next Thursday 10th November. This will also include a Shepparton Pre Race Review for our long course athletes AND give those athletes starting their big build for New Zealand and Melbourne Ironman to meet and catch up (we have a great new crew of Ironman athletes for Melbourne). So make sure you hang around after training next week. Gold coin donation for a sausage or two.

Welcome to our newest members of the team
Tri Alliance continues to grow as we head to the start of the Tri Season in Melbourne. We are currently training 15 Try-the-Tri Participants, and 50+ Coaching Clinic participants who are all getting ready for their first race of the season in just over 2 weeks’ time. We also welcome Emma Nicholl onto our admin support team. Emma has started with us 2 days a week and will be focusing on our events, camps, accommodation and travel. Emma will work mainly in-house – so little contact with athletes, but will become a valuable part of our admin team as we continue to grow. Welcome on board Emma!! (or Mrs N to save confusion… 😉 )

Monthly Team Dinner
Last night we held the first of our monthly Team Dinners at ZANINI’S, 106 Ormond Road, Elwood. We had a great turn up, with plenty of stories being told of the antics in Noosa, athletes eyeing off other athletes food and even a red wine or two!  And for some reason the lemon lime and bitters were getting a good run for their money – apparently Emma ordered one, so everyone else did! J PLEASE NOTE: Tri Alliance Hoodies ARE NOT compulsory attire, but they ARE extremely popular!!! So make sure you lock into your diaries our next monthly Team dinner on Thursday 1 December.

Monday MORNING Swims at MSAC – STARTING NEXT WEEK!!

Due to the large volume of athletes swimming at MSAC we have been working tirelessly to find a solution to cater for the numbers. For the month of November we are trialling a Monday Morning swim at MSAC for BEGINNER swimmers. So Monday’s at MSAC will now be:

  • Monday 6.15-7.15am, MSAC Indoor 25m leisure pool. Beginner swimmers. So if you normally swim in Lane 1 on a Monday night, you will now be swimming Monday mornings.
  • Monday 7.00-8.00pm, MSAC Outdoor 50m pool. Intermediate and advanced swimmers only.

Training weekend – it’s going to be a scorcher!
This weekend it is set to HEAT UP! With 30+ degrees forecast, it is going to be extremely important for all athletes training to train to the conditions and prepare accordingly. This may mean extra stops on your ride/run to refuel with fluids, sunscreen, hat, sunnies to protect yourself from UV rays and easing off the intensity if you are feeling effects of the heat. Please be sensible as we hit our first weekend of hot weather for the season. It has come at a good time though as it is a great chance to practise your race nutrition and hydration for those long course athletes racing Shepparton and Busselton. If you were going to try salts / additional electrolytes in on race day – this is the weekend to practise! Train safe.

Tri Alliance Annual Christmas Celebrations!
We are currently busily planning our Christmas Celebrations this year and have locked in the date of Sunday 11 December – post Race 2 of the Gatorade Series (separate venue in the afternoon). Due to the large number of races in December, it’s been hard to choose a date and unfortunately it does also fall on the Canberra Half, but we couldn’t fit another date onto what is an already very busy calendar. So stay tuned for further communications as we have a fun afternoon planned for athletes, friends, family and even the kiddies!!
