RACE RESULTS
The season has only just started but already we have had five local races that the squad has been racing at plus the World Champs in London and now Kona over the weekend. Next up is Noosa and then we can continue to move forward to more local events, Busso and into 2014.
On the weekend we had Brisbane squad member Chris Bailey complete his first Kona IM in 9.49 while on line member and Steve Gage coached Robbie Andrews crossed the line in 10.04. It was a great effort by both and a testament to their hard work and dedication.
With the sport growing so much now only the very best age group athletes will qualify for Kona so it was very pleasing to see Chris and Robbie compete at the highest level with the best athletes in the World.
On the local scene we had round two of the Qld Tri series at Raby Bay. This series is very much about the other end of the sport and getting new people into triathlon. The races are safe, well organised and they give people the opportunity to develop their racing skills and craft.
However you’ll also get many fast and experienced professionals and age groupers using these events to test their fitness leading into major events such as Noosa.
For Tri Alliance squad members we had some great results including in the ladies 20-24 where we had first to Gabby Kulka, second to Claire Roohan and 4th to Tina Sherrit. Dean Thurgood also took out the men’s 20-24 while we had many others recorded pb’s at that venue.
RUN TECHNIQUE COURSE AND BEGINNER COURSE
The month of November is going to be a very busy one with our next run technique course starting on Monday November 11th from Shoes Feet Gear and Try the Tri course from Tuesday November 5th.
The 6 week run technique course offered in conjunction with the expert team from Shoes Feet Gear are perfect for those wanting to run faster, prevent injury and have sessions that are specifically focused on improving technique. Our previous courses have been very well attended so book now to reserve a place http://qld.dev.tri-alliance.com.au/six-week-run-technique-course/
The 6 week try the tri course participants will graduate with the Raby Bay QTS event on the 15th of December. We’ll actually be running 2 courses at that time with one being a group from Smile for Smiddy and one a Tri Alliance group.
We place a lot of importance on offering these courses as a great way to introduce people to this great sport. If you know anyone that is interested in giving triathlon a go we would love to have them on our course. Full details are at http://qld.dev.tri-alliance.com.au/summer-try-the-tri-program/

We have a small group of Tri Alliance members heading to Port Macquarie this weekend to race the IM 70.3 race. Sam Beh and Paul Williams from the Gold Coast squad are heading down while Shelly Marriott and the super couple Marjorie and Johnny Van Rooyen from the Brisbane squad are also racing.
Good luck from everyone at Tri Alliance. You can follow their progress live on http://ap.ironman.com

TRAINING
Some of the efforts at training of late have been fantastic. This time of year is always a challenging time on the training front as it is when we do a block of high intensity work. This helps everyone cope with the demands of the races and lifts you to a higher performance on race day.
They are mentally hard sessions to get through however in the group environment there is always someone to help you along if you’re struggling. No matter what your ability with the squad as large as ours there are others around the same pace or slightly faster to push you along and help beat those little voices in the head we all have.
We have another 10 days of this type of work before an easy week leading into Noosa. Post Noosa we’ll change the emphasis again until the new year and do some strength endurance work before going into some higher intensity intervals after Christmas.
Those doing long course events will continue to do specific sets for them and follow a different program within the squad sessions.
